NXTGEN is seeking an ambitious and motivated Audit & Accounts Assistant to join a rapidly expanding Accountancy practice located in Bury St Edmunds. As the new Audit & Accounts Assistant, you will be part of a talented and experienced team of professionals who are committed to excellence and share a passion for delivering high-quality service to clients. This practice has seen considerable growth having had a new acquisition over the last year and becoming more and more recognised in the local area. As the new Audit & Accounts Assistant you will be closely supported by Senior staff and Managers, learning from some of the best in their field. This is a varied and all encompassing role having a split workload across both Audit & Accounts, helping to develop you as a well rounded Accountant.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a diverse role with a broad range of responsibilities. You will assist in both audit and accounting functions, including the preparation of financial statements, management accounts, VAT and Tax Returns, and supporting audit processes for a varied client portfolio. As your skills and confidence grow, there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility, along with access to further training and internal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements for a diverse range of clients.
  • Support audit processes, including planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Prepare management accounts and assist with VAT and Tax returns.
  • Assist with Bookkeeping duties.
  • Develop strong working relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Provide timely support for clients' ad hoc queries.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a Chartered Accountants/Bureau environment is preferred due to the hands-on client work involved.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft packages.

Salary is dependent on experience, with flexibility offered on an individual basis to suit your needs.
