Fire Engineer

The Fire Engineer Role

As a member of our team, you will undertake fire engineering projects, supporting design projects both within and outside the UK. Your role will include a mix of desktop and off-site activities, with supported client interaction. Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing fire strategy reports and relevant documentation
  • Managing fire safety aspects, including passive and active building systems, compartmentation, occupancy levels, and fire escape provisions
  • Reviewing architectural drawings for potential fire strategy risks and opportunities
  • Calculating evacuation times and performing computational evacuation modelling analysis
  • Solving fire engineering calculations with support, including radiant heat, smoke control, and occupant evacuations
  • Communicating fire strategies to design teams and clients
  • Conducting third-party design verification
  • Understanding and applying UK fire safety legislation and standards

Key Requirements

  • A degree in Fire Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Fire Engineer within a Fire Safety Engineering team
  • Working knowledge of regulatory controls and the ability to develop and implement fire engineered design solutions
  • IFE Membership (MIFireE or AIFireE)
  • Thorough understanding of ADB, BS 9999, BS 9991, and BB100
