About the Role

As a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator, you will be responsible for promoting and ensuring the health and safety of workers and subcontractors on construction and O&M (Operations and Maintenance) projects for solar farms. You will work closely with teams to meet environmental requirements and drive continuous improvement processes to satisfy stakeholders and ensure legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety Planning: Develop and implement Health & Safety Plans and Inspection and Prevention Procedures for risk activities.
  • HSE Management System: Ensure compliance with the HSE Management System, utilising company tools and guidelines while adhering to local legislation and standards.
  • KPI Reporting: Report monthly on all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the Business Line to the HSE Manager or Regional Manager and the HSE Corporate Team.
  • Training: Train workers and contractors on the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Master Programme as needed.
  • Documentation: Plan and organise activities, documents, and meetings related to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) HSE and the Integrated Management System.
  • Record Management: Oversee the management and updating of O&M records, including audits, inspections, reports, certifications, permits, and training.
  • Incident Database: Maintain a database of health & safety accidents and their treatment.
  • Safety Coordination: Participate in safety meetings and coordinate work safety efforts.
  • Presentations & Awareness: Prepare and conduct HSE presentations, training, and awareness sessions for O&M employees.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct on-site safety inspections and ensure legal compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Culture of Care: Promote a culture of care by encouraging non-HSE Inspections, Good Catches, and reporting near misses.
  • PPE Management: Select, purchase, and manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and HSE Monitoring and Measuring Equipment.
  • Legislative Compliance: Ensure compliance with legislation through document analysis and using company tools.
  • Equipment Safety: Ensure all machinery used by employees meets minimum safety requirements according to legislation.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in developing and implementing emergency response systems at appropriate locations.
  • Technical Support: Provide verification and technical support for Health & Safety at Work for O&M Managers, Site Technical Leads, Technicians, Coordinators, and Specialists.
  • RAMS Development: Participate in developing Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) and review subcontractor's RAMS and HSE documentation.
  • Environmental Documentation: Support the preparation of environmental documentation during the tendering stage of Operation & Maintenance.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Maintain a database of environmental accidents and their treatment and conduct environmental monitoring of works and sites through periodic visits.
  • Integrated Management System: Support the implementation and management of the Integrated Management System for Quality, Safety & Environment (HSE), collaborating on procedures and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Training in Health and Safety at Work and/or Environmental fields.
  • Post-graduate studies in Occupational Health and Safety and/or Environment are essential (NEBOSH or IOSH certification preferred).
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards (internal auditor qualification is a plus).
