Position: English Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Tower Hamlets, London
Contract: Full-time, term-time only

As part of our commitment to high-quality education, we are looking for a dedicated English Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team and support students within English classes.

The Role:

As an English Specialist TA, you will work closely with English teachers to provide tailored support to students of all abilities. You will assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, helping students develop their literacy skills and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students in English lessons, both one-to-one and in small groups, to enhance their understanding of literature and language.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, providing additional help with reading, writing, and comprehension tasks.
  • Helping students develop their confidence in speaking, listening, and written communication.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCo.
  • Supporting students with varying needs, including those with special educational needs (SEN) or those who require additional help with literacy.
  • Promoting a love of reading, creative writing, and critical thinking.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of A-levels in English or a related subject.
  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly in an educational setting, is highly desirable.
  • A strong grasp of English literature and language, with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • A positive and patient attitude, with a genuine passion for helping students improve their literacy skills.
  • The ability to work well within a team and independently when required.
  • A desire to inspire and motivate students to engage with English in a meaningful way.
