We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join an innovative team. This role involves modelling, systems engineering, development, testing, and maintenance related to rotary steerable drilling tool functionality and operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control systems and signal processing, with a passion for driving development in mechanical, software, and electronics.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Collaborate closely with the technology team to drive development across mechanical, software, and electronics disciplines.
  • Optimize overall systems performance by identifying deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and refine simulations and models, including hydraulics, HILS, mechanical actuation, tool performance, sensors, and closed-loop controllers.
  • Provide systems-level insights and ensure cross-functional technology integration.
  • Conduct tool performance reviews and root cause analyses.
  • Apply relevant procedures and standards correctly.
  • Lead technical presentations both internally and externally as required.
  • Engage in external collaborations to support and accelerate development efforts.
  • Support the creation of design and product documentation, procedures, and standards.
  • Deliver regular management reports.
  • Identify and generate intellectual property opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A good engineering or science degree (2.1 or better) or post-graduate qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in modelling, simulation, control systems, signal processing, or product development.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in electrical, mechanical, systems, or controls engineering.
  • Aptitude for learning and developing expertise in disciplines outside of core specialisation.
  • Interest or experience in software engineering related to modelling activities or software development.
