Location: Oldham, Greater Manchester

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role:

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Assistant to join our team in Oldham. As an ASD Assistant, you will provide specialised support to students with autism, helping them to navigate their educational environment and achieve their full potential. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with ASD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support for students with ASD.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Support students in developing social, communication, and academic skills.
  • Create and maintain a structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers to tailor educational activities to meet each student's needs.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive interactions.
  • Encourage and support students to develop independence and self-confidence.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during school hours.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with ASD is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with ASD.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a positive attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special needs are advantageous but not essential.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
