Network Engineer

We are supporting a highly respected public sector organisation in North Wales seeking a Network Engineer to join their established ICT team on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and technically skilled individual to play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing critical network and communication systems that support essential services across the region.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation and monitoring of network and telecom systems, advising on performance and technical improvements.
  • Act as an escalation point for network, fixed and mobile communications issues, providing guidance to ICT colleagues and end users.
  • Support installations, maintenance, fault resolution and upgrades of infrastructure, including backups, patching and redesigns.
  • Contribute to the research, development and implementation of new infrastructure technologies, following NCSC best practice guidelines.
  • Liaise with service providers, equipment suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure reliable and cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist in preparing contract specifications and project scopes and review tariffs and price plans to ensure value for money.
  • Produce technical reports, statistics and responses to Freedom of Information requests.
  • Share knowledge and support colleagues and users through documentation, guidance and training.
  • Maintain and audit stock levels and asset databases.
  • Participate in an on-call rota to support critical incidents during evenings and weekends.
  • Support the wider infrastructure team on projects and provide resilience as needed.

**Skills & Experience:

  • Strong technical expertise in network and telecommunications systems.
  • Experience with installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of network and communication infrastructure.
  • Understanding of NCSC guidance and implementing secure systems.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, able to support both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working in a demanding environment where precision and accountability are essential.
