Profectus Recruitment have a brand new requirement for a Data Developer for its leading client near Reading. You will be responsible for analysing, developing, and maintaining data marts and ETL pipelines for business intelligence and research data. Your work will support research and analysis activities within the business. You will collaborate with the Enterprise Data team to deliver and maintain datasets, components, and tools that meet the business's data requirements.

As a Data Developer, you'll:

  • Design and build robust data pipelines for our data solutions and products, adhering to technical standards.
  • Develop data integration processes to ensure seamless data flow across our systems.
  • Create data transformations based on business requirements to enhance Thatcham data.
  • Ensure data development aligns with data governance and information security requirements.
  • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and testers to deliver high-quality data solutions.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot production data pipelines, providing support for developed data solutions.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation for data development through technical documents.

Skills and experience we think you'll need to be successful:

  • Experience in developing ETL, data ingestion, and data integration solutions based on business requirements and architectural designs.
  • Applied knowledge of data modeling techniques such as Kimball, Inmon, 3NF, and Data Vault.
  • Ability to support data pipelines, analyze processes, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to translate architectural and technical requirements into robust data solutions.
  • Passion for data and a desire to learn, build, and expand your skillset.
  • Knowledge of leveraging the Azure stack to develop data solutions (e.g., Synapse).
  • Proficiency in data development languages such as SQL and Python.
  • Experience working with requirements to produce appropriate solutions and providing traceability using agile development tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Best practices with version control, including using Git (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket).
  • Consideration of security, compliance, and governance in the context of solution architecture.
  • Good communication skills to understand and deliver on business requirements.
  • Ability to gather and analyze requirements and create appropriate design documents.
  • Deliver robust and reliable ETL/ELT functionality in line with standards set by the Lead Data Warehouse Developer.
  • Demonstrable skills in developing ETL or analytics processes with Python.

About You

You're an experienced Data Developer with extensive practical experience and a strong analytical mindset. You are comfortable handling complex data problems and enjoy researching data warehouse design and build techniques, implementing them accurately and confidently. You have the drive to work independently on tasks while effectively collaborating in a small team to ensure tasks and projects fit into broader reports and models.
