We are currently seeking a Car Pound Officer to join our team during an exciting time of transformation and unique challenges in policing London. This role is integral to the Vehicle Recovery Examination Services (VRES) supporting London law enforcement, who are dedicated to tackling vehicle crime and supporting frontline policing.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Processing the storage, movement, and administration of vehicles and property recovered to VRES.
- Supervising the loading and unloading of vehicles, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Confirming vehicle identities, completing removal forms, and entering information into the ELVIS system with high accuracy.
- Utilising various internal and external programs for vehicle processing.
- Operating specialist vehicle movement equipment and maintaining health and safety standards.
- Processing vehicles post-forensic examination and recording property, including valuables, in accordance with VRES SOPs.
- Handling oil and fuel spills from accident-damaged vehicles in line with environmental legislation.
- Conducting regular pound inventories and compiling reports on discrepancies and vehicle husbandry.
- Providing high-level customer service at the front counter, handling documentation, and resolving financial queries.
- Performing administrative duties, responding to emails, telephone calls, and correspondence regarding vehicle reviews and restoration.
- Accepting payments and completing financial transactions.
- Liaising with scrap and auction agents for vehicle disposal.
- Maintaining site and corporate health, safety, and security protocols.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role is advantageous.
- Proficiency in handling administrative tasks and using various IT systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform heavy-duty manual handling.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
- ELS and OST training is beneficial (training will be provided if not already obtained).
Additional Information:
- Working hours consist of a 4 on 4 off pattern, covering a range of shifts including nights.
- Shift times: 07.00 – 18.45, 11.00 – 22.45, 12.45 – 00.30, 19.45 – 07.15.
