Senior Data Management Professional - Data Product Owner - Structured Products

Our Team:

The structured products market makes up over $11 trillion of global public and private bond market debt. Banks use financial engineering to transform a variety of assets, such as residential and commercial mortgages, auto and student loans, and credit card debt, into securities that are structured to meet nearly any investor appetite. We are responsible for onboarding this data in a timely and accurate manner for our clients.

What's the role?

We are looking for a Data Product Owner, where you will use your market knowledge and industry experience to deliver a strategy for the Structured Products dataset. You will be responsible for developing essential elements of our data product, including its data model, data pipelines, and data quality specifications. You will also be expected to monitor market and industry trends to influence our methodologies, tools, and technical infrastructure. You will engage with clients to understand their business needs and partner with Engineering and Product teams to propose, develop, and implement solutions for our clients. You will ideally develop a network of structured products clients that you can use for feedback to assist in developing requirements. You will also define the data strategy, analyze data gaps and opportunities, profile data content, and translate business needs into requirements for a data model.

We'll Trust You To:

  • Advise on a comprehensive and outcome driven data strategy for the Structured Products dataset by owning the schema design and suggesting improvements in line with market trends
  • Engage with market participants and internal product partners to identify and ensure all client needs and trends are accounted for within our product design
  • Establish relationships with banks and other involved parties to increase the volume of data submissions
  • Use your market knowledge to perform market analysis to recommend and design new product offerings and features
  • Build quality data workflows to verify and validate third party data submitted directly by clients
  • Contribute on building the product classification for the structured products universe
  • Work on building the semantic data model and taxonomies for Structured Products, aligning with other teams and partnering with Data Management Lab (DML)
  • Engage in relationships with clients, including issuers, exchanges, and asset managers, to understand their needs, integrating these into our development proposals
  • Design and oversee processes to ensure high data quality for the structured products universe - from new set ups to life-cycle events
  • Perform data analysis using Python, Excel, Qlik Sense and other tools to direct the Structured Products agenda
  • Develop, scale, and maintain the data pipelines and processes that interact with our structured products and corporate bond databases
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of external partners and internal departments including Engineering, Product and Sales on strategic product development and execution
  • Manage the end-to-end orchestration of the legacy Structured Products workflow to a new robust controlled platform while ensuring a contingency plan

You'll Need to Have:

  • 4+ years of professional work experience in Structured Products or Derivatives related field*
  • Strong understanding of client data needs and the strategic landscape within the securities financial markets
  • Proven experience in data management concepts such as data quality, data modeling, and data engineering
  • Proficiency in being comfortable discussing technical concepts and experience evaluating trade-offs in design with Engineering
  • Extensive experience in communicating and coordinating with internal and external partners while leading large-scale projects
  • Customer-focused approach and the ability to interact with a diverse range of clients
  • Ability to adapt within a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and desire to work on multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to isolate issues and resolve problems logically

We'd Love to See:

  • Master's degree or certification such as a CFA charter holder or CAIA
  • Knowledge in information technology and statistical analysis or computer programming, for example Python, Excel and/or SQL
  • Product Manager experience bringing sophisticated products to market
  • Understanding of Interest Rate Swaps, Vanilla Options, Cross Currency Swaps, and lifecycle of trades
  • An understanding of risk management and ability to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory processes.
  • Agile/Scrum Project Management experience
