Procurement Subcontracts Manager

A leading global defence and technology company is looking to hire a permanent Procurement Subcontract Manager for their Berkshire location.

About the Role:

As a Procurement Subcontract Manager, you will provide essential support to bids and projects by managing all aspects of subcontracting, from supplier assessment and subcontract awards to delivery, acceptance, and closure of subcontracts. You will ensure that suppliers comply with RFQs, commercial requirements, contractual terms, and delivery schedules.

The Procurement Subcontracts Manager will be responsible for developing the approach and policies ensuring lifecycle supply chain management / performance is monitored and maintained to ensure risk mitigation is in situ for all contract wins.

Key responsibilities for the Procurement Subcontract Manager will not be limited to:

  • Develop subcontract management strategies and plans for business leads and stakeholders.
  • Provide procurement governance and leadership within Bid/Project Management, including handling contractual terms and conditions.
  • Identify and manage risks with subcontractors and the business to enhance customer experience.
  • Offer procurement leadership and management to ensure effective lifecycle management and achieve project delivery and margin goals.
  • Select and develop strategic suppliers and partners, overseeing their performance, quality, and relationships.
  • Manage the supply chain and support the creation of scopes of work to ensure clear understanding among suppliers.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and implement partnerships, subcontracts, and non-disclosure agreements to protect the business commercially.
  • Handle export applications/approvals and ensure compliance with ITAR and TAA procedures.
  • Develop procurement and project risk management plans.
  • Maintain subcontracts throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring all milestones and deliveries are achieved.

Suitable candidates for the Procurement Subcontracts Manager will have experience in the following areas:

  • Proven experience in subcontract bids and involvement in engineering program design and development.
  • Experience in the defence and/or aerospace industry, with baseline and potentially SC clearance required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, including presentation abilities.
  • Strong management skills in risk and program management.
  • Proficiency in financial management.
  • Additional spoken language skills French, German, and/or Spanish would be beneficial
