The salary for this role is £59,723 and you will be expected to be onsite for a minimum of 60% of your working hours.

Job Description

This role is based at Culham, Oxfordshire.

This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role

As Senior Finance Manager, you will act as a trusted business partner to a Directorate and Enabling Functions within UK Atomic Energy Authority, ensuring excellence in corporate reporting, driving operational efficiency, strengthening control and planning of expenditure - in both the operational and strategic time horizon, providing financial advice and insight, driving financially sound decision making and supporting acquisition of new funding streams and ensuring their incorporation into the financial framework. You will work in partnership with Executive & Programme Offices and Divisional and Executive Directors, externally with audit leads or DESNZ colleagues.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Providing information and advice to senior management, working closely with the Director of Finance in liaison with DESNZ finance and policy on financial forecasts, actuals and risks.
- Focus on establishing and continuously improving management information. Build strong relationships with colleagues managing parallel reporting processes such as project management office, exec office.
- Consolidation and analysis of UKAEA PSRE financial performance, striving for simplicity and automation, providing standard management information out to business partnering teams. Owning the change control process for budget variations.
- Ownership for financial planning for central overheads & expenditure (c£20m), and other indirect costs (c.£15m). Manage the people cost assumptions, cost allocation methodology and associated reporting.
- Drive consistency, simplicity & efficiency in reporting of financial & related performance reporting (KPIs, related impacts & benefits) across UKAEA Group, ensure linkage to and leverage of existing systems & control of master data reporting structures, strong integration with Procurement and People performance reporting.
- Responsible for overall co-ordination of the finance reporting calendar, establishing clear timetables for budgeting & forecasting and effective communication/training to business leads.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

- Fully qualified accountant, with significant post qualification experience in a senior role. Ideally with extensive experience as a business partner, dealing with technical and/or scientific customers.
- Highly motivated with capability to lead & develop direct reports and support overall development of the finance team.
- Ability to establish strong working rapport with internal and external customers representing a variety of professional disciplines.
- Experience of working with and advising programme leadership teams.
- Experience in business case development and analysis.
- Understand the principles of revenue recognition and accounting for grant funding, appreciation of multi-funding control requirements.
