We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Driver to join a reputable logistics company based in Walsall.
Job Summary:
As an HGV Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various locations. You will ensure that deliveries are made on time and in compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate HGVs to transport goods to designated locations.
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of cargo.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, including hours of service.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle logs.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Handle goods with care and ensure secure and correct placement of loads.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or traffic violations to the supervisor promptly.
- Follow company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid HGV Class 1 or Class 2 license.
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an HGV driver.
- Strong knowledge of UK road networks and traffic regulations.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and nights, if required.
