Position: Year 1 Teaching Assistant (Full Time)
Location: Kirkby
Start Date: Monday 30th September

About the Role: A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Kirkby is seeking a dedicated Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from Monday 30th September 2024. This exciting role involves supporting the teaching and learning of Year 1 pupils, helping to create a stimulating, positive environment that encourages growth and development in early education.

The ideal candidate will work closely with the class teacher to provide tailored support to young learners, promoting both academic progress and social well-being in line with the school's commitment to providing an engaging and nurturing education for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and interactive lessons that align with the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to pupils, particularly in key areas such as literacy, numeracy, and phonics.
  • Assisting in the preparation of classroom resources and helping to create a welcoming and stimulating learning environment.
  • Supporting the social and emotional development of pupils by promoting positive behaviour and fostering a caring and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Assisting in the assessment and tracking of pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher to inform future lesson planning.
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
  • Supervising children during break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities.
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff to contribute to the overall well-being and development of the pupils.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within Key Stage 1 (KS1).
  • A patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young learners.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, staff, and parents.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, particularly in literacy and phonics.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, in line with school policies.
