JOB TITLE: Design Engineer
LOCATION: Melksham
SALARY: up to £30,000
WAY OF WORKING: 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08.30 - 5 and Friday's 08.30 - 4
THE BUSINESS:
C4S Search are pleased to be partnering with a specialist in the engineering and manufacturing of respiratory protection equipment for military, law enforcement and fire personnel.
THE DESIGN ENGINEER OPPORTUNITY:
- Conduct design verification and validation using both analytical and physical testing methods.
- Develop and deliver presentations to communicate concepts, progress, and milestones to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Product Management to define and document technical requirements at the project outset, track requirement changes, and measure performance throughout the development process.
- Prepare and maintain development documentation in accordance with ISO9001 standards throughout the design process, ensuring it is available for review.
- Create prototypes, test plans, and test procedures, and ensure all findings are accurately recorded.
- Prepare drawings, tolerance stack-ups, SPC capability data, and ISIR reports, organize reviews, document releases, and propose mitigative actions as needed.
- Enhance personal skills in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, problem analysis techniques, benchmarking, FMEAs, Six Sigma, and CAD.
YOUR KEY SKILLS:
- A minimum of a 2:1 degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- A talent for innovation, demonstrating enthusiasm, flexibility, and a quick ability to learn new skills.
- Practical experience in model making and product testing.
- Proficiency in the SolidWorks CAD Suite.
- Working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to work in a structured and controlled manner under pressure.
- Self-starter with strong self-management skills.
- Positive "can-do" attitude and keen attention to detail.
