IT Systems Engineer – Kent - £45k + Excellent benefits & career development

Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen with a multi-faceted business in Kent for an IT Systems Engineer.You will be responsible for providing system support to the business, performing routine maintenance of all systems and network infrastructure, and to ensure the business continuity strategy is implemented. You will also provide support to group wide infrastructure projects and systems maintenance.

Role & Responsibilities

  • To install, maintain, and upgrade IT systems and related equipment at the Paddock wood site.

  • To help ensure an uninterrupted service of local and wide area networks.

  • To plan, manage and deliver IT projects in alignment with business goals and priorities.

  • Ensure that all IT equipment is backed up and that appropriate procedures and in place and followed for business continuity and disaster recovery.

  • Ensure project work is completed on time as per IT and Business project schedules and priorities.

  • Ensure that all systems software is licensed appropriately and operated within legal and regulatory boundaries.

  • To understand and support when necessary:

  • Telecommunications equipment (mobile and VOIP)

  • Desktop hardware and software support including but not limited to desktops, laptops, thin clients etc.

  • Other business critical IT maintained equipment e.g. Radio Data Terminals, label printers etc.

  • Providing weekend support on a rota basis.

  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honouring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others.

  • Identify and prioritize improvement projects and activities, based on best ROI for efficiency and effectiveness of the business.

  • Brief individuals and team to ensure full understanding of H&S and Environmental risks involved in work activities and responsibility to apply controls to manage risk, applying the principle of ‘if in doubt, ask'.

  • Be aware of Group and Company H&S and Environmental Policies, Procedures and Protocols.

  • Report all accidents, near misses, unsafe acts or conditions and environmental events noted throughout the business to the H & S Manager through the ‘HUB'.

  • Notify your Line Manager of any procedures or work arrangements that you do not understand or feel competent to undertake.

  • Co-operate with the Company at all times to ensure that the work is undertaken both effectively and safely.

  • Use safety equipment or clothing provided in a proper manner and for the purpose intended.

  • Work in accordance with any Health and Safety instruction or training that has been given.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 3 Years+ experience in a similar role
  • LAN & WAN support and maintenance (Ideally Cisco)
  • Server Virtualisation – Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Enterprise Solutions
  • Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, System Centre
  • Office 365 & Enterprise Mobility Suite
  • Technical knowledge of SAP
  • Nutanix HCI – desirable but not essential
  • Experience of running critical systems in a 24/7/365 environment, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity which includes ad hoc outside hours support.
