Blayires Recruitment is representing a building contractor based near Portsmouth who is searching for a Contracts Manager to join the business.

The company undertakes restorations and new build projects across the high-end residential, heritage sectors with projects ranging up to £2M.

The company is steadily growing and are looking for a driven, experienced and highly motivated Contracts Manager with high-end residential or heritage experience to join the business.

Responsibilities of the Contracts Manager:

  • You will act as the main point of contact for clients, Site Managers and subcontractors.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget and in line with Health & Safety requirements, to the expected standards of the customer and ensuring quality is always maintained.
  • You will be a forward thinking, driven individual who will take control and deliver results. This is a new role in the business so there will be an expectation for you to develop, implement and embed processes and procedures to contribute to the success of the business.

Key Responsibilities of the Contracts Manager :

  • Programme planning.
  • Plan projects and ensure they are programmed to a level of detail necessary for the site team to deliver the scheme without delays.
  • Ensure procurement and reconciliation of materials is carried out in accordance with company procedures to best value and to prevent delays.
  • Attend tender handover meetings and deliver pre-start meetings to the site team.
  • Ensure commercial aspects are monitored monthly for the successful commercial delivery of the project.
  • Produce and analyse progress reports, updated costs and forecasts if required.
  • Ensure correct commercial engagement of subcontractors, implement the risk management process, review risk register and check risk controls.
  • Ensure weekly reviews of progress, budget resources and forward planning are carried out, and lookahead programmes are in place.
  • Chair and attend internal and external meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actions.
  • Ensure timely management of both temporary and permanent design to meet the requirements of each project.
  • Set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of HS&E procedures andbest practice, ensuring compliance with company procedures and legal obligations.
