Sous Chef

Experienced Sous Chef needed for a busy restaurant and function business near Padstow.

Your duties will include overseeing the delivery of food supplier and stock control, preparing special dishes and supervising overall kitchen operations during dinner service.

They have a high banqueting trade during the main season for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as catering for various functions throughout the year. The lunch and evening menu covers all areas, catering for all types of customer.

Sous Chef Job Duties:

  • Leads kitchen team in Head Chef's absence.
  • Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members
  • Oversees and organises kitchen stock and ingredients.
  • Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours.
  • Be actively involved in training new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards.
  • Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste, plus work with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns.
  • Supervises all food preparation and presentation.
  • Work with the Head Chef to maintain kitchen organisation, staff ability, and training opportunities.
  • Verify that food storage units all meet Health & Safety standards and are consistently well-managed.
  • Assists Head Chef with menu creation.
