Business Improvement Director

Innova Search are proudly representing a UK engineering specialist who supply bespoke engineered products and solutions to some of the largest manufacturing and defence companies. The company have been operating for over 80 years and has over 400 staff.

The Role:

The Business Improvement Director will be responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing comprehensive business improvement strategies across the organisation. This role focuses on enhancing overall business processes, particularly those related to quality (adhering to ISO industry standards) and business systems, to increase operational efficiency and support strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our business operations align with our strategic goals and industry standards

Quality and Business Systems Optimisation:

  • Lead projects aimed at improving business processes, particularly those related to quality management and business systems, ensuring compliance with ISO industry standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation of process changes
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of process improvements related to quality and business systems

Strategic Planning and Analysis:

  • Assess current business processes and identify areas for improvement, with a specific focus on quality (adhering to ISO standards, 9001, 14001 and 18001) and business systems
  • Develop and implement business improvement strategies in alignment with organisational goals
  • Conduct thorough analysis and risk assessments to support decision-making processes

ISO Standards Compliance:

  • Ensure all business processes adhere to relevant ISO standards and industry regulations
  • Lead audits and assessments to maintain and improve ISO certifications
  • Develop and update documentation to support ISO compliance and continuous
  • Improvement

Change Management:

  • Develop and execute change management plans to ensure smooth transitions during process improvement initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gain buy-in and support for improvement initiatives
  • Provide training and support to employees to facilitate adoption of new processes and practices

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Utilise project management tools and methodologies to track progress and report on project status.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, department heads, and external partners
  • Act as a liaison between different departments to foster collaboration and drive business process improvements
  • Present findings, recommendations, and progress reports to senior leadership

Experience/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Proven experience in a business improvement or similar role within a large engineering and/or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of business process optimisation, quality management, business systems, and ISO standards 9001, 14001 and 18001
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully leading and implementing improvement initiatives
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., project management software, quality management systems)

Additional Information:

  • This is a newly created senior-level role with a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications
  • Please note, this role is advertised in a select few locations across the UK. The role will require you to be based on-site 4 days per week in the Manchester area (Mon-Thurs). A housing allowance is included to assist in this regard. Relocation also welcome, but not essential
