Finance Manager

We are seeking a Finance Manager to provide robust finance and administrative support, ensuring the efficient day-to-day management of non-academic areas. This role is pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of the Administration and Finance departments. Candidates with accountancy qualifications will have a distinct advantage, and previous experience in finance and administration is essential.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Produce termly management accounts and reports for the Bursar, Head, and Governors, including cash flow, variance analysis, and forecasts.
- Prepare financial forecasts for the future performance of the College over a five-year period.
- Prepare financial papers for the Resources Committee and accounting records for external audits.
- Produce ad hoc reports and undertake financial analysis as required.
- Administer all ledgers, invoicing, fee, and debt collection systems.
- Monitor expenditure on major projects and capital works, including financial appraisals.
- Maintain the College Fixed Asset Register and oversee financial aspects of contracts.
- Administer pension schemes and monitor cash flow, managing bank accounts and payments.
- Ensure financial control of school trips in coordination with the Trips Coordinator.
- Manage procurement and purchase ledger areas, ensuring compliance with the school procurement policy.
- Carry out bank statement and credit card reconciliations.
- Manage debtor collection and process cheque receipts.
- Serve as the primary contact in the Bursar's office for queries from staff, suppliers, and parents.
- Coordinate administrative tasks such as Early Education Funding applications and parking permits.
- Support the School Office with incoming queries and receipt of goods.
- Oversee the operation of the school's minibus service and coach bookings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in finance and administration.
- Accountancy qualifications are highly advantageous.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in SAGE accountancy software or similar.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of HMRC rules and VAT returns is beneficial.
