Supply Chain Planning Manager

Supply Chain Planning Manager (£60,000 + Benefits)
Syntech Recruitment is excited to partner with a leading manufacturer to find a strategic Supply Chain Planning Manager. In this leadership role, you'll take ownership of the entire planning function, ensuring efficient material flow, optimised production, and a high-performing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of best-practice planning processes to achieve operational excellence.
  • Oversee all aspects of material and production planning, ensuring smooth production flow and optimised inventory levels.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of planners, providing coaching and development opportunities.

Key Duties:

  • Strategy & Development:

  • Champion the creation and implementation of a comprehensive Supply Chain planning strategy aligned with company goals.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop vision, policies, procedures, and performance metrics for the planning function.

  • Material & Production Planning:

  • Manage the entire material and production planning process, ensuring material supply seamlessly aligns with production needs and customer demand.

  • Develop and execute efficient, flexible, and cost-effective solutions to meet production and customer requirements.

  • Proactively identify and address potential supply chain disruptions by implementing contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Oversee inventory management, optimising stock levels while minimising costs and ensuring stock accuracy through BOM integrity.

  • Lead the development and implementation of system enhancements to improve planning efficiency and data accuracy.

  • People Management:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of Supply Chain Planners, providing coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities.

  • Set clear departmental objectives and KPIs, monitor team performance, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure the team adheres to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

  • Reporting & Communication:

  • Generate strategic and operational reports, providing insights to key stakeholders on planning performance and areas for improvement.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, regarding production schedules and material requirements.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree preferred (HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award, or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Supply Chain Planning role, with a proven track record of leading and optimising planning processes.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach and develop a team.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing and automotive processes, components, and supply chain management principles.
  • Proven experience in supplier relationship management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive collaborative decision-making.
  • Experience with MRP systems or similar tools and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (advantageous).
