Job Title: PMLD Learning Support Assistant

Location: Kestrel House School, Crouch End, London

Salary: £20,869.10 per annum

Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8.15am start x 5 days, finish time 4.15, 4.15, 4.00, 3.45, 3.30pm consecutively)

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a PMLD Learning Support Assistant to join our close-knit team at Kestrel House School located in Crouch End, London.

About the role

To support the education and development of pupils in the school as directed by teachers and the SLT.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To support the teacher as directed.
  • To carry out all duties as directed by teachers to maximise learning opportunities for all pupils and young people.
  • To assist with target setting, record keeping and assessment in classes.
  • To participate in, and complete reports for, Statutory Reviews and meetings concerning the pupils and young people.
  • To assist with the planning and preparation of materials and learning resources.
  • To work in partnership with MDT and the teachers to adopt approaches recommended by MDT clinicians.
  • To record observations if requested by teachers.
  • To be a role model at all times to the pupils and young people.
  • To supervise pupils and young people outside classroom activities, e.g. meal times and recreation times, as requested.

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent

Desirable

  • Experience working with young people with PMLD

Kestrel House School is a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School. We help educate and support pupils and young people who have complex needs and specialise in the communication and learning challenges associated with Autism.

We want each young person at Kestrel House School to achieve their own ambitions and to live fulfilling and productive lives. The site is in London, Haringey Borough within Crouch End area, quite close to central London. The location has the advantage of easy access to public transport, having the over ground station located 5 to 10 min walk away from the school and a 2 bus stops right outside of the school front gates.
