Location: Remote, with occasional travel to London

Our client, the International Institute of Communications (IIC) is the world's only policy debating platform for the converged communications and media industry. The IIC is committed to helping Regulators, Competition Authorities and Policymakers, find the best regulatory and policy frameworks for the widest societal benefit. The IIC is the only independent international forum that brings together statutory national regulators, competition authorities, global commercial operators and end-user representatives in a collegiate, neutral environment to debate policy issues. The Role:

As the Director of Operations and Communications, your role will be varied and diverse. The Director of Operations and Communications will be working directly with the Director General and the entire team to ensure smooth running of the organisation with an overview of all activities.

The ideal candidate for the role should have a background in a membership organisation with experience to lead the operational management of the organisation and its activities and be a seasoned communications professional.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day staff management incorporating all aspects of HR
  • Responsible for setting up and managing, maintaining, and developing IT systems
  • Managing, updating, and developing the website
  • Maximise efficiency of all systems by constant development and integration across all platforms
  • Ensure all staff are involved, updated and trained across all systems
  • Oversee maintenance of the database/CRM ensuring legal compliance and best practice
  • Develop key relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Reconciling accounts monthly and end of month financial reports for the Director General and Treasurer (working with our external contractor)
  • Producing annual budget with the Director General
  • All payments (including salaries and working with our external contractor)
  • Liaise with potential venues and the full event supply chain and secure contracts
  • Confirm supply and delivery of catering and Audio-Visual services
  • Work with the Director General and Director of Programmes to identify, target and engage potential sponsors
  • Produce collateral for the sponsorship and commercial programmes
  • Manage and develop the communication campaigns including social media
  • Ensure that there is up to date analytics across all platforms to ensure reaching target audiences
  • Work with the journal Editor on content and promotion of InterMedia
  • Work on the Newsletters (and other publications as required) on content creation including introductions
  • Maximise potential of the database and website to attract members and potential members.

Person Specification:

  • Experience in operations and communications, working at a senior level
  • Proven experience in owning and delivering integrated communication campaigns, ensuring comprehensive and cohesive strategies
  • Have broad financial and commercial acumen with the ability to set budgets and work with international payment systems and external contractors
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with MS Office suite and with a CMS/CRM/LMS inclusive of managing data
  • Ability to liaise with venues and negotiate contracts with the full event supply chain
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in marketing, knowledge of new marketing technology and tools
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise effectively, and consistently meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
  • Great customer service with excellent written and spoken communication
  • Proactive business engagement to support key themes.
