Early Years Recruiter 12 month contract 37 hours a week based in Preston £17.32 per hour PAYE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Recruitment Specialist to work as part of the Early Careers & Contingent teams within the Recruitment Operations function to deliver a best in class recruitment service.
Reporting to the Early Careers Team Manager, the role will work collaboratively with functional and operational teams across BAE Systems Plc to support the future Early Careers recruitment needs of the business by attracting and progressing high performing individuals to join one of BAE Systems Early Careers programmes. You will gain an understanding of the different business areas and their demands, with the opportunity for progression in other areas/teams.
You will use your recruitment expertise to support hiring managers with their recruitment demand as you take ownership and manage applications against live vacancies. You will provide a high level of support to candidates and hiring managers whilst progressing (and rejecting) candidates through the recruitment funnel towards start date achieved.
The role holder will be a self-starter, highly motivated and able to act independently with minimal supervision to provide advice and guidance based on recruitment best practice, market conditions, and being a subject matter expert to facilitate the overall recruitment process
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
- Develop strong understanding of processes and deliverables within the team including industrial placements, summer interns, graduates and apprentices.
- Manage the hiring manager relationship from initial vacancy consultation until first day readiness, setting expectations and offering a world class end to end Early Careers recruitment service
- Demonstrate an integral involvement in delivering graduate/ undergraduate and apprentice recruitment activities to ensure that the collective targets are delivered successfully.
- Use the applicant tracking system (ATS) to screen and progress applications. Ensure the ATS is used to provide a valid indication of application progress to date for your allocated programmes and is subsequently accurate within the dashboard
- Progress applicants in a timely manner through the appropriate stages, providing the highest level of candidate care to all applicants (successful and unsuccessful) from application submission through to start date achieved.
- Build strong and influential relationships with hiring managers and early careers leads across the business to identify demand/ requirements and deliver a service which exceeds their expectations.
- Manage relationships with third party providers i.e. Occupational Health, ATS provider, The Security Watchdog etc to support and maintain a high level of service and timely outcomes.
- Guide and consult on recruitment best practice defining, shaping and leading the recruitment process for early careers, supporting ad-hoc transformation projects when required.
- Understand the candidate marketplace and continue to support the sourcing team to innovate and develop a range of strategies to attract the highest quality of candidates. Support the analysis and report on the outcome of recruitment campaigns.
- Support the sourcing team to build and maintain an effective and live talent pool through quality engagement with potential applicants.
- Support the Employer Branding team to drive and deliver on diversity and inclusion initiatives for recruitment.
- Coordinate the selection and assessment process with a high level of expertise, using your ability to build strong rapport with candidates and hiring managers to match high quality individuals to early careers roles and manage any associated risks.
- Demonstrate a high level of candidate care, managing expectations by providing an honest and transparent service with a rapid response to queries and application processing. Strive to ensure decisions are clearly communicated to candidates within a timely manner.
- Conduct relevant assessment centre preparation including issuing candidate invites and working with the business to ensure assessors in attendance have the appropriate skills and training to participate and make the required hiring decisions on behalf of their business.
- Deliver high quality assessment events through professional facilitation and positive representation of BAE Systems as an employer of choice. Communicate decisions to candidates within agreed timescales.
- Support the onboarding process to ensure the offer process is initiated, candidates are updated and supported throughout the onboarding process for a smooth transition into the company
- Support any expansion and integration of the team into wider recruitment activity/ campaigns beyond early careers.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of recruitment processes is essential with knowledge of Early Careers recruitment highly desirable
- Excellent IT skills, in particular applicant tracking systems
- Ability to understand and champion the importance of data integrity, timely and accurate reporting and uses this information to run efficient processes
- Experience of recruiting volume campaigns as well as unique roles and the variances in between
- Experience of working within agreed HR policies and processes and provide ad hoc recruitment advice
- Experience of delivering to and working with service level agreements and service definitions.
- Ability to challenge and influence at all levels internally and externally.
- Proven ability of challenging and improving customer perception through delivery of contractual measures and excellent service
- Knowledge of BAE Systems and business areas to ensure that individual business requirements are met
