We are seeking an Accounts Assistant / Purchase Ledger to join our clients finance team, working primarily on EU accounts with occasional support for UK accounts. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn and manage accounts across different EU countries, each with unique tax dates and requirements. You should be computer literate and comfortable using tools like Google Translate as part of their daily tasks.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Data entry of invoices and matching them against delivery notes.
  • Booking in invoices and preparing weekly/monthly payment runs for supplier payments.
  • Chasing Proof of Delivery (PODs) with both sites and suppliers across all countries.
  • Preparing and checking expense sheets from sites.
  • Resolving invoice queries and producing monthly Profit & Loss/Trial Balance reports for each country.
  • Producing client monthly statements and reconciling bank accounts for each country.
  • Reconciling cash expense accounts, with each country having its own cash account to be reconciled weekly.
  • Submitting VAT returns and liaising with accountants in-country.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Willingness to learn and manage EU accounts.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in using software such as SAGE 50 (with a transition to SAGE 200 planned), Excel, and Smartsheets.
  • Ability to navigate and utilise Google Translate for daily tasks.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with international teams.
  • If you are fluent, in French, German or Dutch this would be an advantage but NOT essential
