Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for traffic management and public realm improvements? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our innovative team, contributing to the development and delivery of traffic management projects that enhance our community's quality of life.

About the Role:

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and progressing traffic management schemes, ensuring timely and effective outcomes that align with our organisation's core values and performance targets. You will be responsible for supervising up to three staff members and deputising for the Principal Engineer when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and progress traffic management projects within a designated area or function, ensuring adherence to agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Act as a lead spokesperson on traffic management issues, providing expert advice and representation.
  • Supervise staff, contributing to their training, development, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and legal obligations, maintaining a customer-focused approach.
  • Develop and implement policies, programs, and systems that address the changing demands on the service.
  • Represent the organisation at public forums and meetings, providing clear and concise reports and communication.

Management and Leadership:

  • Supervise and provide direction to staff, fostering commitment and ownership.
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective performance management of the team.
  • Ensure advice and recommendations align with organisational policies and government legislation.

Service Delivery and Strategic Planning:

  • Develop customer-focused standards and ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic policies and initiatives.
  • Manage projects from conception to implementation, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.

Communication and Partnership:

  • Liaise with stakeholders, developers, and the community to resolve conflicts and achieve innovative solutions.
  • Act as a senior expert spokesperson on traffic management issues.
  • Foster strong links with the community and other service users.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience working at a senior level within traffic management.
  • Ability to supervise staff and provide effective leadership.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce and present clear, concise reports.
  • Experience in planning, managing, and monitoring projects and programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of legislative, policy, and procedural frameworks related to transportation services.
  • Ability to use new technology to improve service delivery and performance.

Desirable:

  • A qualification in Transportation Planning and membership of, or eligibility for membership of, a relevant professional body.
