Key Responsibilities of the successful Project Manager:

  • Maintaining an overall project plan identifying key milestone's, timescales resource usage etc. Proposal of mitigating action plan and non-achievement of milestones to Project Director.
  • Maintain contractual requirements for both contractors and consultants.
  • Organise, chair and lead multidisciplinary meetings with stakeholders to manage identified risks to the project scope, timescales and specification.
  • Carefully analyse and review Monthly progress reports and identify any discrepancies or underlying trends.
  • Escalation to Directors when critical impacting issues arise.
  • To act with a high degree of day-to-day decision-making autonomy to ensure project progress is maintained.
  • Identify, address and resolve differences between individuals and/or interest groups.
  • Lead and manage stakeholders including design teams, suppliers, external agencies, Consultant Medical Staff, Senior Managers and Users to successfully deliver the project.
  • Ability to work in an unpredictable construction environment with interruptions from Site Staff, colleagues and design team members often requiring immediate decisions and action.
  • To lead and manage the decommissioning process of the buildings and to facilitate various relocations of departments to enable building works to commence on site where required.
  • To manage the technical commissioning of services with Trust Health partners and specialist design teams.
  • Perform risk management to minimise project risk and keep Directorate informed accordingly.
  • Establish, maintain and build relationships with third parties/Suppliers/Stakeholders at all levels.
  • Oversee the preparation and updating and approval of Business cases and tenders where required.
  • Budget planning and oversee project procurement management.
  • Ensure standards and requirements are met through conducting quality assurance tests.
  • Work in collaboration with Senior Project Managers/Project Directors to eliminate blockers.
  • Act as first point of contact and communicate project status to all stakeholders.
  • Oversee meeting bookings and minute circulation and related action point follow ups.
  • To act as a role model and ambassador for junior staff members.
  • Mentoring and training of junior staff with active contribution to their development and growth.

Key Requirements of the successful Project Manager:

  • Proven track record in managing projects in healthcare and/or commercial sectors.
  • Relevant engineering knowledge of specifications and current standards and ongoing best practise.
  • Ability to take control and ownership.
  • Confident management of teams and external agencies from a broad range of backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reading accurately interpreting programmes, drawings and technical specifications.
  • Working closely with project stakeholders at all levels to understand operational requirements to translate into drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of process mapping and improvement methodologies, leading to implementation and sustainability of change.
  • An appreciation of the effects of successful change management and end user journeys.
