We need passionate and experienced mental health nurses to join a well-established team at an acute hospital in South West England, assisting and supporting general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations.
Description:
The primary responsibilities for the post holder will include:
- Providing a high level of nursing and observation.
- Delivering a range of nursing and psychosocial interventions to help reduce patients' distress.
- Assisting and supporting general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations.
- Providing one-to-one nursing for behaviorally disturbed, distressed, or confused patients.
- Offering support and advice to patients with a range of undifferentiated mental health, psychological problems, and psychiatric illnesses.
- Delivering a range of nursing and psychosocial interventions to individual patients and their families, as appropriate.
- Representing mental health services within the general hospital.
Skills:
- Demonstrable experience in a mental health setting.
- Knowledge and experience of adult safeguarding procedures.
- Proficiency in patient restraint using approved techniques.
- Handling and appropriately storing patient valuables.
- Ability to deal with emotional and distressing situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Respect for the privacy and dignity of individuals.
- Ability to manage demanding situations.
- Ability to cope with exposure to aggressive behavior.
- Capability to plan one's own workload.
- Knowledge of mental health presentations and appropriate interventions.
- Understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Knowledge of risk management and how to plan care to account for risk.
