Centre Manager & Caretaker
Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire
Salary: £23,000 - £25,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Our client is responsible for the day-to-day running of four community centres in the Bedford area. They are currently seeking a proactive and reliable Centre Manager & Caretaker to help manage these centres, ensuring they operate smoothly and continue to serve as vibrant community hubs. This is a newly created role designed to support the centres more effectively and build upon their current success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Cleaning & Maintenance: Ensure all centres are kept clean and in good working order, performing basic tasks to maintain the facilities.
- Point of Contact: Act as the primary contact for hall users, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing excellent customer service.
- Access Management: Arrange and oversee the opening and closing of centres, ensuring secure access for all bookings and events.
- Increase Usage: Work to grow the number of centre users by liaising with local organisations and promoting the centres to ensure they are always well-utilised.
- Community Liaison: Collaborate with local organisations, including the council, to ensure smooth operation and engagement with community needs.
- General Repairs: While not essential, basic handyman skills are an advantage for addressing minor repairs or issues.
Requirements:
- Ability to drive (valid licence holder) and access to own vehicle (essential for travel between centres).
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Friendly and approachable, with excellent communication skills.
- Experience in a caretaker or similar role.
- Ability to work flexibly, with occasional weekend work as needed.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
Working Hours:
This is a flexible role, allowing for mutually convenient scheduling, though some limited weekend work may be required. There will be approximately 35 to 40 hours work per week and you will be travelling between the community centres as required, so flexibility is key.
