**Risk and Insurance Manager Ref: AJ45879A Japanese international company in the agricultural industry is currently recruiting a Risk & Insurance Manager to oversee and assess customer creditworthiness across for the company and its' subsidiaries across Europe.

TYPE: Permanent, full-time
WORKING HOURS: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday
SALARY: £70 - £80K, depending on experience, plus good benefits
START: ASAP
LOCATION: Central London (Hybrid Working) - Exceptional candidates in the UK or across Europe may be considered for remote working

Risk and Insurance Manager Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting CFO overseeing and managing the team of risk analyst/s in assessing customer creditworthiness
  • Recommending and monitoring counterparty credit limits
  • Managing exposures
  • Assisting with negotiations of trade documentation
  • Managing credit projects and developing relationships with internal stakeholders (Legal, Accounts, IT...) as well as with the Group subsidiaries overseas (Local Operation Companies: LOCs)
  • Being responsible for the team and ensuring KPIs and KAIs set out for key risk indicators are met
  • Credit assessment - analysing credit worthiness and KYC status of customers across Group in order to recommend appropriate credit limits and managing credit support where necessary
  • Regular renewal and continuous monitoring of customer status
  • Credit reporting and control - monitoring credit exposure and risk measures and anticipation and management of breaches and exceptions
  • Pro-actively assessing exposure and the impact of potential transactions to provide an advisory role to subsidiaries
  • Monitoring of Group Inventory in accordance with internal policy
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance of forex policies
  • Support in preparation of Group annual business plan for risk management related issues
  • Coordination with internal stakeholders - being a professional business partner to subsidiaries and communicating sound credit opinions in a convincing, understandable and concise manner
  • Ability to find innovative solutions which address risk reduction whilst responding to commercial requirements
  • Providing support to subsidiaries and business teams when credit issues require involvement with other internal departments and being able to react quickly to business opportunities
  • Ensuring Annual renewal of Insurance policies requiring coordination with other offices and departments in a timely manner
  • Providing advice, training and support to team members concerning areas of expertise as well as exposure management
  • Ensuring top management is updated and sharing of key findings in a timely manner
  • Manage and guide processes and procedures relating to all areas of compliance in the LOCs, with a particular focus on new channels of sales and marketing
  • Ad Hoc items including preparation of seminars, RM improvements etc

Measures for Success:

  • Timely reporting to management of key issues and findings
  • Successful completion of the Business Plan and completion of all projects to deadlines
  • Strong Internal Audit results on RM matters tested across the Group
  • Build and maintain strong internal relationships across all business and support functions and ensure close liaison with Presidents at all LOCs
  • Development of the Credit Risk function including customer or sector assessment, exposure and risk measures, project management, and development and documentation of credit risk management policies and procedures

Risk and Insurance Manager Ideal Candidate:

  • Around 10 years of experience in risk management and credit control
  • Knowledge of Japanese language or, prior experience working in a Japanese corporate environment would be advantageous
  • Identify trends and key topics and communicate recommendations to management in a clear, precise and concise manner
  • Good understanding of the key elements of Credit Risk Management with credit and exposure assessment. (Background and experience in internal control and internal audit would be desirable.)
  • Creativity in solution finding and thinking dynamically
