Senior CCTV Officer

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  1. To co-ordinate the day-to-day operation of the Boroughs 24 hour CCTV system in accordance with the scheme's code of practice, operational procedures and statutory regulations. Day to day running of the CCTV control room presently monitoring over 500 cameras covering the borough. This includes the management and running of the Lewisham Homes CCTV system.
  2. To maintain and supervise both the CCTV monitoring and maintenance contracts for the borough, along with any other technical issues for the scheme. This includes supervising of the CCTV operators and maintenance engineer while on site.
  3. To support the performance of the monitoring and maintenance contractors, the efficiency and effectiveness of the monitoring and maintenance staff to ensure meaningful compliance with the monitoring contracts.
  4. To improve operational use of the system, evidence gathering, increased working with the police and other Safer Communities Service partners and improvement of performance management.

CCTV _'CLIENT' A_CTIVITIES

Managing the CCTV Monitoring Contract Contractor

  • Day to day management of all aspects of CCTV Control Room operation. Ensure satisfactory performance of Contractor and contracted staff. Establish and maintain regular contact with the Contractor's management. Develop good business practice and regular liaison. Ensure that all aspects of the CCTV operation are carried out in accordance with the Contract, Codes of Practice and law.

Operational Activities - CCTV

  • Ensure that all evidential digital material and subsequent viewing is carried out in a way acceptable to its use as evidence in a court of law and that procedures, guidelines and Codes of Practice are constantly monitored to ensure that they have not been affected by court judgements.
  • Identify and develop intelligence links in collaboration with Police and other appropriate internal and external agencies.
  • Advise all relevant agencies and LBL departments on the operation and administration of CCTV.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the CCTV scheme, the performance management agreements.

Experience

  • Experience of supervising staff, preferably in a Crime Reduction or Safer Communities Service capacity.
  • Experience of producing briefing notes to go to the Safer Communities Service management team.
  • Extensive experience of Multi-agency or partnership working.
  • Experience in researching and communicating technical advances in CCTV technology to ensure an ongoing modernisation programme

General Education

  • Good numeracy and literacy - minimum of GCSE A-C including Maths and English
  • Willingness to undertake further training
