Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and implement Company Authorisation Manual, ensuring compliancy of all transactions, as well as sufficient controls and processes.
- Overall responsibility for the transactional team, including the Accounts payable and receivables balances
- Liaise with and assist Company Wholesale function with regards to customer information, credit limits and accounts with support from the credit control
manager
- Review and authorise Activities of the team.
- Ensure the efficient and effective management of the Company's transactional data.
- Manage day to day issues in NAVISION and new projects.
- Help to drive the department forward by improving efficiency and adapting/proposing new technology.
- Assist the Senior Management Accountant in the preparation of the businesses accounts. Key areas of focus are operating income, interest payable,
foreign exchange, bad debt provision, Corporation tax, and external debtors and creditors, deferred income.
- Assist in the preparation of the quarterly Onward pack for parent company.
- Coordinate and plan for month end activity and dates.
- Manage the expenditure budget in conjunction with Management Accounts team & the financial planning team.
- Act as a point of contact to external auditors regards any relevant enquiries.
- Ensure that accounting procedures are tax and regulatory compliant and that Company policies are followed.
- Ensure that all tax returns (VAT, Inward Process, Corporation tax, Duty etc) are correctly completely in a timely manner.
- Assist in recruitment and development of staff.
- Ensure that each role within the department has at least one back up.
- Monitor the performance of the AP Manager, AR manager and Senior
- Accountant, setting and checking targets.
- Any hoc job required by management.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of transactional accounting activities.
- Leverage technology to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
- System Management: Work with the accounting system and other financial software to ensure accurate data entry, reporting, and system maintenance.
- Assist in system upgrades and implementations as needed.
- Mentorship: Provide training and support to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 5-7 years Finance experience, preferably within a multi-site retail environment
- Fully qualified Accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Previous experience in a similar position.
- Retail experience
- Strong global experience
- Good interpersonal skills and experience of managing staff within Accounts department.
- Excellent Excel modelling skills.
- Good understanding of business as well as financial issues.
- An ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines.
- Sound decision making.
- Strong attention to detail.
- French or Japanese speaker an advantage
- Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS standards, internal controls, and best practices in transactional accounting
- Digital Transformation Expertise: Understanding of how to leverage emerging technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning,
and automation to streamline operations and drive business transformation.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of work.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement changes effectively.
