Production Planner

Zenith People are working with our client who are based in South Tyneside and are recruiting for a Production Planner on a permanent basis.

Job Overview

This is a hands on role and the Production Planner will be responsible for producing the daily/weekly production plans for busy manufacturing and packing departments as well as raising work tickets and booking completed jobs into the system. As part of the planning process, you will need to work closely with several section team leaders, to understand jobs undertaken by a variety of machines and operators with the goal of maximizing efficiency. You will also work closely with the demand planner as new orders and requirements can change at short notice. This role offers a great deal of variety and for the right person there will be an opportunity to grow with the business and develop your Senior Management skills.

Job Description

  • Manufacturing and Planning
  • Creation of the daily/weekly/monthly production plan
  • Responsible for implementing the production plan and daily operations in a multi-disciplinary just in time manufacturing environment.
  • Create detailed production schedules based on strict deadlines.
  • Communicate with all relevant employees to ensure delivery times are met.
  • Communicate any changes in the order or delivery date to relevant parties.
  • Establish KPIs to monitor performance in the following: Productivity measures, Waste, Quality and Stock accuracy
  • Produce visible dashboards for staff and monthly management reports based on the KPI's
  • Working with the demand planner, ensure the forecasting is robust and the system holds accurate records of finished goods, raw materials, inventory, and bills of materials.
  • Develop current processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.

Person Requirements

  • Background in Manufacturing Production Planning
  • At least 2 year experience working in the role of Production Planner
  • Excellent Communication Skills, verbal and written
  • Previous experience with ERP Systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and especially Excel/Spreadsheets
  • Proven strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under presses in a High-Volume Manufacturing environment
  • Excellent analytical skills
