About the role:
We are looking for a Finance Assistant to work in our finance team at our small construction company in Leyton, E10. This role will support our day-to-day transactions, including expenses and management reporting activities.
Finance Assistant responsibilities include processing payments, maintaining cost reports and managing invoices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recording day-to-day financial transactions and completing the posting process.
- Verifying that transactions are accurately recorded in Xero including; supplier ledgers, customer ledgers, and the general ledger and completing bank and other balance sheet reconciliations
- Processing payments, invoices, income, receipts and expenses using Xero accounting software
- Managing accounts receivable/payable ledgers including credit control
- Preparing monthly management accounts including cash flow, profit and loss, balance sheets and aged receivables reporting
- Preparing VAT returns
- Supporting on data capture for weekly payroll processing
- Assisting preparing supporting documentation for the annual financial accounts, R&D claims and corporation tax returns as needed
- Assisting with administrative tasks including intermittent reception duties
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven bookkeeping experience.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
- Data entry skills and proficiency with Microsoft office including excel
- Proficiency with cloud-based bookkeeping software (Xero) required.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Accounting qualification (preferable)
