Production Planner

Do you have Production Planner experience and a good understanding of purchasing and supply/demand procedures?

I am recruiting for a Production Planner for a repeat client in the Feltham area. My client is a worldwide leader in the manufacturing industry, specialising in filtration and separation equipment. The Production Planner will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing the production process in this fast-paced organisation, which has previously won the 'Company of the Year' award for two consecutive years in a row! This is a permanent, office-based position working from Monda-Friday, 40 hours per week with a 1-hour lunch break.

Main duties:

  • Plan the sequence of operations to guide production workers, including constructing BOMs and product routings.
  • Monitor MRP/ERP software to plan against part supply and demand requirements, ensuring the production schedule is met.
  • Source and ensure the availability of raw materials and sub-components by allocating inventory for work orders.
  • Communicate effectively with purchasing, manufacturing, and sales departments about production shortages, stock or urgent updates.
  • Review production capacity and schedule jobs to maximise production efficiency.
  • Raise and compile job packs (including printing drawings and work orders).
  • Attend production review meetings to provide feedback, track progress, and address any overdue or urgent production issues.
  • Monitor the execution of the production plan and resolve potential issues promptly.
  • Track production progress to ensure the final product meets delivery and customer specifications.
  • Manage job discrepancies and exceptions to ensure accurate stock control.

Key requirements:

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings.
  • Previous Production Planner/supply and demand experience.
  • Good communication and people skills.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Experience using Outlook and MS Excel, as well as ERP/MRP systems
  • An understanding of Bills of Materials, their use and creating them.
