The Person: We are looking for a Diploma qualified Paraplanner, motivated by providing technical expertise and outstanding financial planning support to Financial Planners and in turn, an exceptional service to clients. We are happy to consider candidates who are career Paraplanners, keen to remain in a technical support role, and candidates who would like to sit further exams, work towards becoming Chartered with the option to progress into financial planning in the future (training and support with exams will be provided).

Salary and Benefits: £35-50,000 (dependant on experience) + benefits including flexible working hours / hybrid working, 30 days holiday + bank holidays + a generous pension + potential bonus + free parking + coaching + training and continued professional development. The office is located in Poole, Dorset (BH14), and we are happy to facilitate hybrid working.

The Opportunity: Supporting the Financial Planners in delivering a highly personalised, holistic financial planning service, the successful Paraplanner will take responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of client files, conducting technical research, preparing recommendations and Financial Plans (including cash flow forecasts), and supporting with the ongoing review of client affairs. As a key member of a small team, you will be an integral part of the advice process and have the opportunity to influence company development.

Paraplanner, Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and maintenance of client files, fact finds and risk profiles, ensuring completeness and compliance and that clients' needs are identified and supported.
  • Client relationship building, collaborate with the team to deliver an excellent client experience with the opportunity to occasionally attend client meetings, alongside the Financial Planner as part of your development.
  • Preparation of recommendations, collate information necessary to compile client recommendations/cash flow forecast, review and analyse investment portfolio, asset allocation, risk profile etc., identify areas for planning, carry out technical calculations (LTA, CGT and AA) and undertake technical research to identify the best solutions, preparing information/comparisons for consideration with the Financial Planners and producing clear, technically accurate, compliant and concise Financial Plans and Suitability Reports.
  • Implementation of recommendations, make changes to clients' investments as instructed, ensure all agreed action points are completed and liaise with administration team to process recommendations, ensuring all tasks, case and record keeping is accurate, clear, and up to date.
  • Additional responsibilities, complete any other appropriate administrative and support tasks as needed, to improve the Client experience and add value to the business, maintaining up to date knowledge of developments in legislation, investment and technology.

Paraplanner, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years' paraplanning experience.
  • Diploma in Financial Planning (Dip PFS)
  • Interested in studying towards Chartered Financial Planner qualifications (support with this will be provided).
  • Knowledge in all areas of financial planning (investment and wealth management, pensions and retirement planning, protection, inheritance and tax planning etc), ideally with experience of cashflow modelling and working with high-net-worth clients.
  • A strong relationship builder with the interpersonal skills required to develop and maintain client and team trust and inspire confidence.
  • An excellent communicator (both verbal and written), able to assimilate technical information into an understandable format for clients.
  • Highly organised, methodical, detail orientated and analytical, with the ability to plan and prioritise, and both demonstrate initiative and work within defined business processes, frequently under pressure to deadlines.
  • A positive and collaborative team player, happy assisting others as required.
  • Highly numerate with an aptitude for technology
