Job Purpose of the Housing Support Manager

To be responsible for the operational support management and effective delivery of multi-disciplinary services within Housing. Provide high quality management to support staff, empowering them to support residents to make positive changes and informed choices moving towards independent living.

Main Responsibilities of the Housing Support Manager

  • Line management of housing support staff at Redhill and semi-independent properties, including the senior support staff, volunteers and bank staff
  • Conducting 1 to 1 meetings, appraisals and housing meetings with support staff
  • Oversee programmes of support including support officers and volunteers facilitating the programme
  • Where necessary, to deal with disciplinary matters with the support from the Head of Housing
  • Work together with the Head of Housing and Senior Support staff to help reduce evictions by taking trauma informed measures using code of conducts and restorative practises
  • Complete, follow and achieve KPI targets set by the Head of Housing to enable the monitoring, evaluation and progress made in supporting young people on to independent living
  • Oversee the day to day support work carried out by staff to include Outcome Stars, support plans, eviction prevention, restorative practices and rooms inspections in line with the 'resident journey guide for housing staff' 'Housing Support Guide'
  • Oversee support hours that staff provide, ensuring they are recorded and evidenced appropriately
  • On call and duty officer for Redhill and Semi-independent properties
  • To ensure staff have move-on plans in place for residents and are proactive in the area, also that staff are providing appropriate follow-up support for residents move in to a new property
  • To be able to work as and when needed by the job role to work out of hours to ensure night staff and weekend staff are fully supported
  • Complete and lead on preparing a quarterly monitoring reports and meetings for Surrey County Council and other partners as appropriate
  • To ensure Support Staff are recording and achieving monthly support spreadsheet requirements and to address any failings
  • Support the Head of Housing with rental income management and void control
  • To ensure the safeguarding of residents via support plans and safety and risk management plans
  • To ensure support staff keep prompt and accurate records of work with clients in agreed formats, including an action plan contract and contact with other agencies, observing confidentiality and GDPR

Qualifications, Education & Training

  • Equivalent CIH L3 in Housing, or higher in housing - Preferred

Experience Required for the Housing Support Manager

  • Significant management experience working in Housing, support services, or working with young people
  • Demonstrable knowledge base regarding relevant legislation and resulting practice/procedure issues in Housing or support services
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other agencies and professions
  • Demonstrable experience in collating, analysing and reporting data from a range of sources and making recommendations for performance improvement.
  • Experience of demonstrating compliance for external regulatory inspections and/or accreditations

  • A strong command of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work collaboratively with managers to influence change, encourage innovation, creativity and continuous improvement
  • Good working knowledge of data protection and information security
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail

  • Subject to a satisfactory Enhanced with Children's barred list DBS disclosure
