Job Summary

As the IT Support Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact for all IT-related software and hardware issues. Your role involves managing the IT support ticketing system, prioritizing tasks based on their impact, and ensuring timely resolutions. Given that many users operate remotely, effective communication is crucial.

You must possess strong technical knowledge of operating systems, software, and hardware setup. Responsibilities include coordinating the deployment and allocation of new assets and providing a creative yet methodical approach to problem-solving. You will ensure seamless operations between 1st and 2nd line support within our rapidly growing business.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to end-users both on-site and remotely.
  • Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems, and applications.
  • Manage user accounts and profiles across multiple platforms and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system, network, hardware, and software issues.
  • Liaise with external service providers' support teams.
  • Support the rollout of new systems, applications, and updates.
  • Oversee the Helpdesk ticketing system, ensuring issues are triaged correctly and maintain regular contact with users.
  • Develop and maintain professional documentation.
  • Assist in procuring IT equipment.
  • Manage and maintain an accurate IT Asset Register.
  • Provide regular updates to the manager and escalate issues/risks promptly.
  • Make technical recommendations to improve the IT department's functions.
  • Contribute to business information security audits in collaboration with the information governance lead.
  • Perform additional duties related to the role as required by the business.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in an IT support role or equivalent
  • Experience in a customer-facing environment, dealing with diverse backgrounds
  • Experience managing competing demands in a high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge of a specialist tech field acquired through a relevant degree or equivalent

Technical Knowledge

  • Troubleshooting desktop and mobile operating systems
  • Working knowledge of GDPR & Information Governance
  • Understanding of cyber security best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration and support
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Entra administration and support
  • Basic understanding of servers and networks
  • Knowledge of HW setup and support (PCs, Printers, Scanners)
