Job Title: Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Abbey Wood, SE2 (South East London)
Position Type: Full-time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: September 2025
Pay Rate: £100 - £120 per day (dependent on experience)
A welcoming and supportive secondary special needs school in Abbey Wood (SE2) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping students with special educational needs thrive in a structured, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with a range of special educational needs (including autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties)
- Working closely with teachers to deliver tailored support in class and in small groups
- Encouraging engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
- Assisting with personal care or physical needs, if required
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, preferably in a secondary or specialist setting
- Calm, patient, and confident in managing behaviour and emotional needs
- Good communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
- A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
This is a long-term position with the potential to become permanent. Full training and ongoing support provided.
