  • Salary: £17,988 - £19,573 per annum

We are looking for a Section Manager for ESOL: Young Learners to join our School of ESOL, Learning Support and Foundation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the recruitment, retention, and achievement of students within the Young Learner Full-time ESOL, Functional Maths, additional qualifications, and Enrichment activities. This role requires a motivated individual who is up-to-date with developments in their professional area and teaching practices.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and manage the curriculum and staffing arrangements for a cluster of courses.
  • Proactively chase outstanding arrears from residents and update your line manager.
  • Organise recruitment activities and ensure the appropriate guidance and initial assessment of students.
  • Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure effective and efficient recruitment and guidance of students.
  • Implement the College's Tutorial Policy, Essential Skills strategy, and Careers and Guidance Policies.
  • Teach on a range of programmes (approximately 17 hours of teaching per week or pro rata).
  • Coordinate the production of course materials, including schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment schedules.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of new courses and programmes.
  • Maximise the use of IT within the curriculum.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree or relevant professional qualification.
  • Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g., DET, PGCE).
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant teaching experience, preferably some in Further Education.
  • Curriculum management/co-ordination experience.
  • Experience of leading or supervising a team.
  • Good communication, IT, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to enthuse and inspire students.
  • Commitment to learners and learner achievement.
