Role: Financial Accountant

Type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid 2 days a week in the office)

Background: Candidate must have experience of SORP (essential) and experience in Charity / Not-For-Profit Industry (Essential)

Qualification: Candidates must be ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA qualified or have the equivalent experience

Duties of the Financial Accountant:

  • Ensure that financial statements adhere to regulatory standards and accurately reflect the company's financial health.
  • Manage the annual statutory reporting and work with the auditors in compliance with the current reporting standards
  • Provision of accurate numbers for all disclosures in the annual report and statutory accounts
  • Closely working with the commercial team, ensuring the accuracy of projects revenue, costs and profitability
  • Ensuring Balance Sheet reconciliations have been completed to an excellent standard, in a timely manner and have been subjected to a robust review process
  • Preparation of the VAT returns including partial exemptions calculations and oversee systems enhancements to facilitate digital tax transfer regulations are met.
  • Under the direction of the head of finance support projects to implement new, and update existing systems for the processing of financial and non-financial transactions
  • Oversee the restricted funds reporting, working with the Management Accountant to ensure the proper reporting of grants
  • Finance project management
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, charity commissions financial controls. legal requirements, and industry standards
  • Proactively identifying problems and opportunities to standardise, streamline/improve processes and analysis and improve accuracy
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Responsible for the year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with, charity and government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
