Private Client Solicitor - Permanent Full-Time

Location: Bedford, Office based

Salary £40K- £70K (depending on experience)

About the Role:

The company seeks a successful Private Client solicitor whowill handle various private client matters, and focus on probate cases, including taxable and non-taxable cases and any ancillary work. This position will also involve contributing to the growth and development of the department. The Private Client Solicitor role offers a challenging and rewarding environment with a clear path for career progression.

As the P rivate Client, Solicitor your responsibilities include:

  • Case Management: Handle a caseload of private client cases, with the majority being probate cases, including the preparation and administration of taxable and non-taxable estates, ancillary estate planning (including trust work), and ancillary property work.
  • Client Interaction: Provide tailored advice to clients, supporting them through complex and sometimes sensitive situations. Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Department Development: Actively build and develop the department, including contributing to business development initiatives.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with current legislation and regulatory requirements under the Code of Conduct, Solicitors Accounts Rules, and Lexcel.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, mentoring junior staff and supporting training initiatives.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with changes in private client law, including tax law changes and best practices.

Qualifications and experience for the Private Client Solicitor:

  • Qualification: Qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
  • Experience: Proven experience handling probate cases, estate planning, and related matters. TALL / STEP membership or working towards it is desirable but not essential.
  • Skills: Excellent client care skills, strong drafting abilities, and an understanding of tax implications related to probate and estate administration.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to empathise with clients while maintaining professionalism.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiar with legal case management software and Microsoft Office.
