£75,000 + £5,400 Car Allowance + 15% Annual Bonus + Medical

Experienced in developing and implementing a strategy to deliver Operational Excellence in Delivery Lead Time, Cost, Productivity, Safety, Quality and People Management.

We are delighted to be working exclusively with a manufacturing business to hire a passionate operations professional to take on the role of Head of Operations and report directly to the Plant Director. With up to five direct reports, you will be instrumental in leading the manufacturing transformation required to achieve strategic business goals of growth and operational excellence in delivery lead time, cost, productivity, safety, quality and people management. This role demands a background in engineering, implementing efficiency, effectiveness and CI. You must be excited about leading transformational change operationally and culturally. We want a problem solver and a leader passionate about building an outstanding and diverse team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to deliver operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, lead time, cost, and productivity.
  • Utilise lean tools to lead, develop, and plan lean manufacturing activities, driving a culture of continuous improvement in line with strategic goals and operational objectives.
  • Sustain world-class health, safety, and environmental performance by working cross-functionally with the EHS lead.
  • Maintain company KPIs, ensuring targets flow up and down from the shop floor to business leadership; deploy an effective and user-owned visual management system. Use operational metrics to analyse the root cause of problems.
  • Participate in the New Product Introduction process to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing is possible.
  • Ensure effective communications to promote a proactive and accountable operational culture.
  • Review and, as appropriate, introduce changes to the manufacturing organisation to ensure the most effective utilisation of resources and optimise costs.
  • Support the delivery of budgeted orders, sales, margins, EBITDA, and administration costs as a member of the Operational Leadership Team.
  • Define capital investment requirements and prepare payback justifications.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a highly complex assembly environment within manufacturing.
  • Committed to a continuous improvement ethos, with the ability to drive cultural change from a legacy mindset.
  • Excellent leadership capabilities with the ability to communicate with, motivate, and lead teams at all levels.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Strong personal credibility and presence, inspiring team members to achieve and exceed targets.
