Key Responsibilities of a Supply SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one or group support to SEN pupils, tailoring learning materials to their needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in ensuring an inclusive and engaging classroom.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other specialists to implement individualized education plans.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the well-being and engagement of all students.
  • Support pupils during lessons, break times, and other school activities.
  • Help prepare resources and materials to enhance learning experiences.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, adaptable approach to meeting children's varied needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) are a plus but not essential.
  • Flexibility to adapt to different learning challenges.
