Summary

We're looking for a skilled Project & Programme Specialist to become part of our Centre of Excellence and help ensure the successful realisation of the National Trust's strategic goals.

Our team is dedicated to promoting excellence in project and programme management throughout the Trust, enhancing our ability to carry out more projects in line with our ambitious strategy.

This role is offered initially on a 3-year fixed term basis.

What it's like to work here

At the National Trust we align our approach to delivery with the Association for Project Management (APM) – we're active members - and previous recipients of Project Management Company of the Year.

You won't find an organisation with a more diverse range of projects to work on - we are involved in activities across the charity from building to environmental preservation, curation to sustainable energy, as well as IT and service provision, historical preservation to advertising.

Our projects cover England, Wales, and Northern Ireland - by working with us, you will be protecting unforgettable locations for the next generations.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

By becoming a part of the Project & Programme Management Office (PPMO), you'll offer specialised guidance and knowledge on projects and programmes to help implement the National Trust's strategy.

Taking a practical approach, you'll ensure our most complex projects and programmes are positioned for success and ready to deliver public benefit.

You'll bring expertise in this field, with the ability to facilitate progress through ambiguity. You'll demonstrate excellence in leading and guiding stakeholders towards a common goal.

The key criteria is below:

  • Professionally qualified in project/programme management, experience in successfully delivering end to end project/programme management including defining resources, securing project teams and matrix management
  • Experience developing project and programmes focused on public benefit
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and be comfortable working in a geographically dispersed matrix environment, supporting several projects and programmes at any one time
  • Communication, problem solving and influencing skills and be confident liaising with senior leaders
  • A desire to provide fantastic service and support to our organisation
  • Ability to flourish in a complex and collaborative working environment, encouraging others, eager to share your knowledge and experience
