Position: Senior Estates Manager

Location: Cambridge/hybrid

Hours: Full or part-time, 30-37.5 hours per week

Salary: Circa £42,000 per annum pro rata

Contract: Permanent

Benefits: 33 days annual holiday entitlement pro rata, includes allowance for Bank Holidays. Pension contribution of up to 5% of gross pay.

The Role

This is an exciting time to join a growing and ambitious local charity. Cambridge is changing rapidly and the organisation is working hard to tackle issues such as the loss of nature, climate change and access to green space.

As Senior Estates Manager, you will provide first class management of the land and buildings owned by the charity in order to benefit nature, heritage and people.

Committed to the causes, you will use your management experience to provide inspiring and effective leadership for the dedicated and hard-working Estates Team.

You will:

  • Use your knowledge of property management to create a programme of capital repairs and improvement projects.
  • Deliver your programme using your project management experience alongside your influencing and negotiating skills to get the best results from agents, consultants, contractors, partners, staff and volunteers.
  • Use your financial experience to integrate your work into the charity's annual financial planning and ensure that you deliver improvements within budget.

You will be joining a team of 14 staff (6 full and 8 part-time) supported by over 100 volunteers and assisted by contracted field teachers, advisors and service providers.

About You

To be successful in the role you will have a relevant qualification or significant experience in any of the following subjects: conservation, land or countryside management, property management, heritage management and facilities management.

You will bring with you the following key skills and experience:

  • Experience of managing properties.
  • People leadership/management experience.
  • Experience of commissioning and managing contractors.
  • Experience in setting and managing budgets.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of health & safety principles and practices relevant to estate management.
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders.
