Assistant Management Accountant

A long established, local business with international connections is seeking a dedicated Assistant Management Accountant to join the well established and hard working team. This role involves a wide range of financial tasks, including month-end reporting, budgeting, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will be a minimum of part-qualified/QBE and have a strong background in accounting and payroll processes.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare the month-end reporting pack for key business units within defined timelines, including submissions, working capital reporting, and capital expenditure reporting.
  • Conduct month-end close tasks such as posting journals for accruals, prepayments, and overhead accruals.
  • Assist the Financial Controllers with the annual budgeting process.
  • Manage weekly forecasts and bi-weekly/monthly aged debt reporting to the management team.
  • Support financial reporting and liaise with external audit teams.
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and various other statutory returns.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Process monthly payroll using Sage and ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
  • Assist with internal audit queries and participate in systems and process reviews for improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to maintain high standards of internal controls and financial support services.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Part-qualified/QBE/AAT L4 or equivalent as a minimum.
  • Proven accounting experience in a similar role or at a point in your career where you would be looking for that next step up.
  • Experience in payroll management.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with SAP or SAGE is preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
  • A full UK driving licence is required for occasional travel.
