Subsidence Surveyor and Adjusting Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Subsidence Surveyor and Adjusting Manager to provide professional subsidence and surveying services for domestic and commercial building insurance claims. This role involves efficiently managing your own workload to achieve business objectives and meet defined service level agreements (SLAs).

Visit damaged properties to assess technical and insurance aspects to resolve claims and reinstate buildings.

Identify causes of damage and construction defects, and assess repair requirements.

Schedule necessary building repair works and manage the investigation and resolution of subsidence and general perils insurance claims.

Instruct temporary or emergency works to make damaged buildings safe.

Engage in building pathology, including issues with asbestos and damp.

Understand and apply buildings insurance policies and insurance law.

Produce professional reports and other general correspondence, including consultation reports.

Specify site investigations and interpret geotechnical reports.

Manage building construction and foundation systems.

Obtain competitive tenders, conduct tender assessments, and make recommendations.

Ensure compliance with Local Authority Planning & Building Regulations and Health & Safety Legislation & CDM Regulations.

Administer building contracts and manage related contract law issues.

Oversee project management of building works onsite, value and authorize contractual payments, and agree on variations.

Demonstrate cost control and financial awareness.

Liaise with clients, policyholders, local authorities, third parties, claims handlers, and colleagues as required.

Maintain and update accurate records on the company claims management IT system.

Proactively manage a portfolio of work within a regional area and assist in other areas as needed.

If you have proven experience as a building surveyor or adjuster or in a similar role within the insurance industry, strong knowledge of construction and engineering principles and practices, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with effective communication and negotiation abilities, we'd like to hear from you. Relevant insurance qualifications or a degree in a relevant field (Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Surveying, or a similar discipline) would be advantageous, although not essential for candidates qualified by experience.
