IT Support Engineer

Due to expansion, Next Generation are currently recruiting for an IT Support Engineer to work with a leading global manufacturer who produce machined components supplying predominantly into the energy industries. As the IT Support Engineer you will be responsible for the maintaining IT systems that allow the processing of confidential client and supplier data as well as helping all internal staff utilise available business systems and applications.

The following shifts are available for the IT Support Engineer:

  • Monday - Friday (Days)

Duties of the IT Support Engineer:

  • Log and triage inbound support tickets, both by phone and email.
  • Provide 1st Line Support, resolving tickets where possible, and escalating where required.
  • Use network monitoring and diagnostic tools, and debug commands to troubleshoot issues.
  • Provide support to other engineers on our technical team.
  • A good understanding of network security and security best practises
  • PC roll-outs and upgrades
  • Mobile device support
  • Maintain accurate records across projects and service items, updating the service desk solution updating tickets and reporting performance.
  • Be able to follow structured troubleshooting procedures to analyse and solve problems.
  • Knowledge and skill set to help with systems implementation, migration and upgrades using Windows technology in both physical and virtual environments.
  • Be able to prioritise tasks, whilst maintaining a clear customer-focused approach. You will be keen to acquire new experience, skills, qualifications and responsibility, work unsupervised but also develop relationships with others and be a team player.
  • Hardware Support (PC / Laptop / Apple iPhone, Printers etc)
  • Software Support (Ms Office, Windows Server, SharePoint etc)
  • Networking support (TCP/IP, DHCP, LAN / WAN etc)
  • Understand and diagnose Network Printer Issues
  • Troubleshoot Remote Workers (VPN Issues)
  • Meeting targets and SLA's
  • Working with 3rd party vendors where required

The successful candidate for the IT Support Engineers position will have the following experience:
