Job Advertisement: Caseworker for Survivors of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of women and children affected by violence and abuse? Do you have experience in providing specialist support and advocacy to survivors of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a Caseworker.

Position: Caseworker Location: 3 days working from home 2 days in the London Office Hours: 37.5 hours Contract: 3 months with the possibility to extend Salary: £13.50-18.50 per hour

About the Role:

As a Caseworker, you will provide a specialist proactive service to survivors of VAWG, offering both short-term and in-depth casework. You will play a crucial role in carrying out risk and needs assessments, developing safety and support plans, and advocating on behalf of survivors with external agencies. Your time will be divided between managing a small caseload of clients and working on our advice line, providing immediate support and guidance to those in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective and timely advice and casework services to women affected by VAWG.
  • Respond to initial enquiries with empathy and empowerment, delivering accurate information and support.
  • Cover the Advice Line daily, offering immediate assistance and guidance.
  • Research and identify appropriate resources to ensure the best possible service for women.
  • Engage with service users to ensure services are responsive to their needs.
  • Maintain high-quality standards of information and advice, meeting the requirements of funders and quality marks.
  • Foster trauma-informed partnership working with statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver a holistic service.
  • Collaborate with other services, such as housing, children's centres, and community organisations, to promote the service and facilitate referrals.
  • Ensure a comprehensive understanding of VAWG to provide accurate information to women in various formats.
  • Empower women in making informed decisions for themselves and their children.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure women at high risk are referred to the appropriate advocacy services and follow high-risk procedures, including MARAC.
  • Provide in-person advice to those who visit the office, as required.
  • Develop safety plans with women, including making assisted referrals to refuge services, police, emergency housing, and counselling.
  • Ensure the service is anti-racist, anti-discriminatory, and responsive to all women's needs, considering language, culture, disability, sexuality, literacy, and mental health.
  • Ensure accessible meeting spaces and adopt a flexible approach to meeting with women with disabilities.
  • Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment where all women feel their needs will be met.
  • Maintain smooth administrative systems, including monitoring and recording information for organizational and funding purposes.
  • Provide necessary information to the Team Leader for timely reporting to funders and stakeholders.
  • Participate in staff, team, and case review meetings, as well as clinical supervision.
